We were so honoured to host Ben Zion David and his assistant, Tal, in Sydney, for 2 very busy weeks.
Benzi is an 8th generation silversmith, taught the ancient art of Yemenite jewellery making in traditions passed down through his family. He is a very ‘modern’ version of the ancient artisians and has a beautiful shop and museum in the old city of Jaffa in Tel Aviv, where he sells his wares and displays original tools. In Sydney, he shared his stories and skills in a demonstration and shopping event at the Ravish Showroom, did workshops and demonstrations with children at 6 Sydney schools and a number of community events. It was a whirl ! He left us with a commitment to continue selling his beautiful jewellery and ornamental pieces and we are so proud to continue as his exclusive Australian distributor.
“Had a fabulous night absorbing the workmanship of a Yemenite Silversmith. Could not resist the most exquisitely designed and crafted ethereal silver ear rings that I have not been able to stop wearing, and I’m often stopped in the street for people to have a closer look. The hardest part is stopping at the one pair!!
Thank you Jacqui and Peter for hosting such a unique event and for your wonderful selection of beautiful jewellery.”

“Thanks for the invite last night! I wasn't sure what a night with a jeweller would be like but it was fascinating! I have to say, previously I haven't really appreciated the Yemenite pieces, now I find them completely fascinating considering how much handwork is involved. My poor husband had to sit through me showing him your website at 10.30pm last night trying to explain the Yemenite jewellery and how Ben-Zion made them. I can't really explain how much I appreciated watching Ben-Zion make that ring except by way of this. Years ago I did a silver jewellery making course in Perth. In one term I managed to bash out one very plain, almost round ring which had so many dents in it, I decided to make it the feature and bashed it all the way around. So, kudos to a true master last night.”

“Thank you for last night – nice to meet Benzi, fascinating to watch his work, and so interesting to learn of the history behind this exquisite jewellery. Wearing my fab new earrings today! Gorgeous!”

“I LOVE learning about history and to know Benzi is 8th generation at his craft really is quite remarkable. Fantastic that his sons are interested to keep the tradition going.”
- Carol Langsford
“I and my friend enjoyed the night very much. It was a unique opportunity to learn how the jewellery is made, by the silversmith himself. I truly appreciate your initiative to share it with us.
Benzi's work is exquisite and I'm looking forward to buy a few more pieces in the future. “
