Turquoise

Turquoise is the modern December birthstone and the accepted gem for the fifth and eleventh wedding anniversaries. It is said to promote mental and spiritual clarity and expansion and to enhance wisdom, trust , kindness and understanding. Highly valued by the ancient Chinese and Aztecs, Turquoise was widely thought to prevent injury, especially from falling. The Turks (Whom after the stone was named) attached them to their horses bridles for protection. Representing happiness and luck, its powers are said to be greater when the stone is received as a gift for it is considered to be responsible for faithfulness and constancy in relationships. It was said ' 'The hand that wears a turquoise and seals with it will never see poverty"
